Innovation Norway supports Norwegian Composite Center with funding of a NDT-project.

Norwegian Composite Center is starting up a project which will focus on Non Destructive Testing techniques. The project has a total budget of 3 750 000 NOK. Innovation Norway supports the project with 1 300 000 NOK.

Non Destructive Testing is important techniques to verify composite products before they are released to the marked or recertified.  In composite products it is not easy to se damages or delaminating on the surface of the product. There are several  NDT- techniques  in use today. The project  will involve different enterprises that are using NDT in their production; Nammo, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and Ragasco are all using different NDT-techniques in their production. A small company in Trondheim, Optonor, are producing equipment  based on TV-holography/ shearography . The project will develop methods descriptions, acceptance criteria's and a training program for using the equipment.

The project includes a mapping and description  of other NDT -techniques in use for composite materials. The bachelor student at Gjøvik University College , Kristian Strømstad, will do this mapping  and description as a part of his bachelor thesis this spring.
