Workshop on new standards for raw materials: Fibre-reinforced plastic composites — Declaration of raw material characteristics

Norwegian Composite Center will together with Standards Norway, FiReCo, Recihold and Norwegian Composite Federation arrange a workshop on the hearing on the new draft standards Fibre-reinforced plastic composites — Declaration of raw material characteristics.

The workshop will take place at Standards Norway, Strandveien 18 at Lysaker on the 20th of April. Registration is to be made to Elisabeth Hovda at Standards Norway on e-mail eho@standard.no within 9th of April 2010. The workshop is free of charge, but the participants must pay their own traveling expenses. Read more about the draft standards here: www.standard.no/plast

Now you have the opportunity to affect the content of the standards.
Following parts with the general name of  Fibre-reinforced plastic composites - Declaration of raw material characteristics is out on a hearing:

Part 1: General requirements

Part 2: Additional requirements for resin, curing systems, additives and modifiers

Part 3: Additional requirements for fibres

Part 4: Additional requirements for fabrics

Part 5: Additional requirements for core materials

WG15 Fibre Reinforced Composites
The European working group WG15 Fiber Reinforced Composites has developed draft standards with requirements to the raw material and declaration of the product on production. WG 15 has members form 15 countries and are lead by Mr Jon Taby from FiReCo, the secretariat for WG 15 are led by Elisabeth Hovda from Standards Norway.

WG15 was established because of the need for requirements to the declaration for composite materials, products and processes. Good declarations of the raw materials leads to fever tests, easier acceptance and through this easier quality control. The Standards will when they are finished lead to higher acceptance in the marked for fiber reinforced plastics.

The goal for the standardization project is to develop standards with uniform specifications of the input material and different batches of the material. Standards in this area are demanded for:

-secure complacency

-secure tracebility

a-reduce risk for unwanted failure and variation

-secure a open marked, and

-rise the acceptance of materials in the marked

 How to affect:

The draft Standards can be downloaded from: www.standard.no/plast Comments on the draft standards are to be filled in to a specified scheme and sent to the secretariat for WG15 by Elisabeth Hovda (eho@standard.no).
