Norwegian Composite Centre (NSK) is engaged by Kongsberg Defence System (KDS) in a long term project. NSK will participate in developing new products for KDS. NSK will provide knowledge on materials and processes and will be an integrated part of the KDS-project team.
The agreement will secure NSKs project portifolio for some time ahead. NSK will participate in all phases of the project. This involves material qualification, testing, design of the production process and prototype development.
NSK will trough this project build up competence on advanced prepreg materials both for autoclave and “out of autoclave” materials. Boeing and Airbus predicts that “out of autoclave” materials will be the upcoming material/process for aerospace and other advanced structures. Out of autoclave processes will save investment cost and reduce the production time of the specimens.
One of NSKs main objectives are to participate together with the larger companies in Norway to develop knowledge that in the next time can be used for smaller customers of NSK. This project fits exactly into this objective.
