The Board of Norwegian Composite Center

About NSK

Norwegian Composite Center shall:

  1. function as a national center to promote the industrial development in the field of advanced composite materials in Norway
  2. be the Norwegian National Center for handling technology transfer on larger governmental investments and projects with national interest for Norway.
  3. establish strategic cooperation with enterprises that have a commercial interest in developing competences or products based on advanced composite materials.
  4. Assist SMEs in their competition for industrial contracts both nationally and international
  5. coordinate and facilitate the Norwegian competence on advanced composite materials between the industrial sector and the R&D sector including the higher educational area.
  6. seek international partners to promote the Norwegian players at an international level.

Norwegian Composite Center is organised as a foundation on 13th November 2007 and became a registered entity from 15th March 2008 Manager Iver E. Jensen was employed from 1st of October 2008. The Norwegian Center of Composite is in its initial phase to start up its activities from autumn 2008. Both large Norwegian enterprises and governmental institutions are represented on the board. Norwegian Composite Center is located at Raufoss, Norway together with the National Center of Expertise for Light Weight materials in Raufoss.. Countries of identified at this moment for international cooperation are Germany, Spain, England , Sweden and USA.

The main activities up to now has been focused on developing cooperation agreements with the research sector on advanced composite materials i.e. SINTEF- material and chemistry, SINTEF Raufoss Manufacturing, Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

The Center is now in discussion with customers within the Defense Industry in Norway about different projects.
